Insomniac Games has released a new story trailer for Marvel's Wolverine. The PS5 game is still set to launch on September 15, 2026.

The trailer focuses more on the story than earlier gameplay footage. It shows Logan in a tense meeting with Jean Grey and gives a larger role to The Hand, a group that will appear as one of the enemy factions.

Characters and story details

Deathstrike is also shown as one of the major threats. Insomniac says Logan and The Hand share a history that players will learn about during the game.

Jean Grey is not only a small background appearance. Her scenes suggest that her relationship with Logan will be part of the main story.

The studio has not explained the full plot, and the trailer leaves several questions open. That is probably the right choice this close to launch, since showing every connection would take away some of the surprise.

Other announcements

Insomniac confirmed that David Fleming composed the game's music. The full soundtrack is planned for August 28, before the game releases.

A digital prequel comic is also available through Marvel Unlimited. It covers events involving Logan and Team X before the main game.

The studio also announced a crossover suit based on Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. The suit can be unlocked through normal game progress on the first day, rather than being listed as a separate paid purchase.

Release details

Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15 for PS5. Standard and Digital Deluxe editions are available for pre-order.

The new trailer does not change the release plan. Its main job is to give players a better idea of who Logan is fighting and which relationships may shape the story.

What changed between the two updates

The June PlayStation Blog post established the wider gameplay and release plan. The July story update narrows the focus to Logan's relationships, the role of The Hand, Deathstrike, Jean Grey, and the material surrounding the game. Together, the posts show a shift from explaining how the game plays to explaining why its conflict matters.

The prequel comic and soundtrack are supporting releases, not replacements for story information in the game itself. The comic can add background for readers who want it, while the announced soundtrack date gives fans a way to hear the score before launch. Neither item confirms the length of the campaign, the full cast, or how much time Jean Grey spends as an active participant.

What players can verify before launch

The September 15 date, PS5 platform, and edition choices are confirmed in the official material. Performance modes, accessibility details, review results, and the final scope of the campaign still need separate evidence. Those are more useful buying signals than trying to infer the full plot from a trailer.

The trailer succeeds as a story setup: it identifies important relationships and enemy forces without resolving them. Players now have a clearer picture of Logan's conflict, but the practical launch questions remain for later technical information and independent coverage.
