Battlefield 6 Season 4 started on July 21 and brings naval warfare into the main multiplayer game.
The launch update adds Tsuru Reef, a large island map with beaches, open water, aircraft, ground vehicles, and infantry areas. It is built so boats are part of the normal match instead of being limited to a separate mode.
New naval vehicles
The RCB-90 patrol boat is the larger combat option. It is armored and built to control the coastline.
The smaller 7.7m NSW RHIB is faster and easier to move through narrow areas. It carries a mounted weapon but does not have the same protection as the patrol boat.
Season 4 also adds a dynamic wave system. The ocean can change while a match is happening, which can affect visibility, vehicle movement, and how easy it is to aim from the water.
Weapons and updates
The season launches with new weapons, including the EF88 assault rifle, BROD 3 carbine, and VSSM designated marksman rifle.
The required update also includes many fixes and changes for movement, vehicles, water interaction, menus, audio, and Portal tools. Players who want exact balance numbers should read the full update notes.
More content is coming
Wake Island is planned for later in the season. EA says it is being rebuilt for Battlefield 6 while keeping the basic identity of the older map.
A Top Gun event is also planned for August 18, along with more aircraft-focused content. Tidal Strike is listed for September 15.
Season 4 is not only a map pack. It changes the way teams can move and fight by adding a full water layer to multiplayer.
Roadmap versus vehicle guide
EA's roadmap explains when the season's maps, events, and weapons are planned. The separate sea-vehicle guide explains the role of the patrol boat and RHIB in actual matches. Used together, the sources show why Tsuru Reef is more than a map with water around it: the larger boat is built for control and protection, while the smaller craft favors speed and access.
That difference creates a basic squad decision. A team using the patrol boat may be able to hold a coastline, but it presents a larger target. A RHIB can move a squad quickly through tighter routes, but it gives up protection. Dynamic waves add another variable because visibility and aim can change even when the route is familiar.
A season released in stages
July 21 is the start of Season 4, not the date for every listed feature. Wake Island, the Top Gun event, and Tidal Strike occupy later points on the roadmap. Players returning for one item should check its individual date rather than assuming the full season arrived in the first update.
The official material supports a clear assessment: naval combat changes movement and positioning across an entire match. Whether it improves Battlefield 6 will depend on map balance, vehicle counters, and how often infantry players can influence the water fight. Those questions need live play and later patch notes, not roadmap promises alone.
