Synaptic Simulations and iniBuilds brought the A220 Airliner to Microsoft Flight Simulator's Marketplace in July 2026, with an announced price of $64.99. The project grew from a community freeware initiative into an eight-person development team.
A different cockpit, not just another aircraft shape
Xbox's developer interview describes graphical route editing, interactive electrical-system breakers, a custom terrain display and the aircraft's distinctive engine sound. iniBuilds contributed production support, artwork, cabin, liveries, sound and its Electronic Flight Bag.
The meaningful distinction is operational. A familiar-looking airliner need not behave like the Airbus or Boeing simulation a player already knows. For a buyer, the question is therefore not just whether this aircraft looks different, but whether learning another set of cockpit flows is the experience they want.
That is an interpretation of the advertised systems, not a flight assessment. We have not tested their accuracy.
The update channel matters as much as the version number
Synaptic's changelog records the initial release on July 28 and version 1.0.3 on August 4. Its reported performance gains were machine-dependent, not a guaranteed improvement for every installation.
The earlier description of 1.0.4 as upcoming is no longer current: the changelog dates it August 11. On September 21, the record lists 1.0.9 dated September 15 and a subsequent 1.0.9a patch restricted to iniManager. It says those extra changes will enter the Marketplace package with 1.0.10.
Two users discussing the same aircraft can consequently be discussing different fixes. Before comparing an unresolved problem with a changelog entry, match the distribution channel as well as the version. A developer's published fix is not proof that it has reached a particular installed copy.
The launch price is retained here as historical context, not a current regional checkout quote. Continued support is more informative than the project's unusual origins when deciding whether its complexity is worth learning.
