Xbox is giving completed game achievement lists a new status marker. Mythic Achievements are now available for Xbox Insiders to preview, and they can apply to eligible games players finished in the past, including Xbox 360 titles.
Xbox Wire says a Mythic Achievement is earned by completing every original achievement for a game. Achievements introduced later through downloadable content or updates do not count toward that requirement, and Mythic status remains once earned. Eurogamer likewise reports that the system resembles PlayStation Platinum Trophies, framing it as a completion distinction rather than another achievement added to a game list.
A completion target with a fixed boundary
The distinction over add-on achievements is central. A game can receive extra achievements after launch, but Xbox says those additions are not required for Mythic status. The new interface labels later additions as add-on achievements, while an option in each game list can focus on the original achievements that still count toward Mythic.
That gives players a defined finish line for a game’s initial achievement set. It also means older completed games may already qualify: Xbox Wire says eligible historical completions have received Mythic status, rather than requiring players to repeat them.
The profile becomes the hub
Mythic Achievements arrive alongside a new Gaming tab on Xbox profiles. According to Xbox Wire, it collects achievement history, completed games, and the next Gamerscore milestone badge in one place. Mythic entries receive a heroic frame in achievement history, and players can view friends’ Gaming tabs to see their completed games and Mythic status.
Progress tracking is also expanding. Xbox says a progress bar at the top of a game’s achievement list shows proximity to Mythic status, with related information appearing in the Guide and achievement details. For players returning to an unfinished game, the intended use is straightforward: identify the remaining original achievements without sorting through later add-ons.
An Insider feature with a wider implication
The current availability is limited to Xbox Insiders. Eurogamer reports that no date for a broader release was provided. Xbox says people interested in early feature access can join the Insider Program through the Xbox Insider Hub on console or Windows PC.
For the moment, Mythic Achievements change how Xbox presents completion more than how games award achievements. The system creates a persistent, visible marker for finishing an original achievement list, while the new profile tools make both that status and the unfinished path toward it easier to read.
