The July 23 offer had three access patterns
Xbox’s five-game Free Play Days event did not have one deadline or one subscription rule. These are the announced July 2026 terms; the event has ended.

The Metal Gear offer names the individual Master Collection Version of Metal Gear Solid. It should not be described as access to the complete collection.
Eligibility comes before download planning
For Honor’s longer period and no-membership access are separate advantages. A reader outside Game Pass could consider it without treating the subscription requirement on the other two titles as universal.
The extra day for Metal Gear also changes the comparison. It does not make the game permanently owned, but it gives a different amount of time from Tides of Tomorrow. That is precisely the kind of exception a roundup should make easy to see.
Our earlier advice to check every deadline left information vague that Xbox had already cited. The table preserves the distinctions without inventing exact local end times for rows where the announcement only describes the weekend.
A full-game trial is still temporary access
A trial can answer a purchase question, but it can also consume time installing content the player never reaches. The sensible priority is the question most likely to change a buying decision: combat feel, the opening narrative or how an older game controls.
None of the announced eligibility rules establishes multiplayer population, performance or every cross-edition save behavior. We did not test those conditions.
The value of this event was not simply the number five. It was the ability to try different games under different terms. Accurate coverage needs to keep the longer free window, subscription-only offers and individual Metal Gear title distinct.
